Second attempted murder arrest as crash victim ‘remains critical’

A hit-and-run victim remains in a critical condition in hospital more than two weeks on as detectives arrest two suspects – one on suspicion of attempted murder.

999 crews attended the scene in Rodbourne Road, Swindon, on 6 March following a crash involving a Nissan Juke which failed to stop at the incident.

A 26-year-old man was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a critical condition.

A spoesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “On Friday evening, Benjamin Danso-Obeng, aged 28, from Handel Street, Gorse Hill, Swindon was arrested and then yesterday (21/03) charged with attempted murder.

“He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court tomorrow.

“Also on Friday, we arrested a 26-year-old man from Enfield, London in relation to this incident; he has now been released on conditional bail.”
