Schools warn parents over incident involving man and children in Swindon cemetery

A number of schools in Swindon are warning parents about an incident involving a man acting inappropriately towards school children in Old Town.

Among the schools issuing the serious warning via text message and email today are The Croft Primary School and Robert Le King Primary School.

It’s understood that Wiltshire Police has requested the schools share the information with parents after an adult male approached children and acted inappropriately towards them in Radnor Street Cemetery yesterday evening, Thursday 7 December.

A spokesperson for Robert Le King Primary School said: “We wanted to make you aware that an incident has been reported to us by Commonweal School.

“Last night an adult approached children and acted inappropriately in Radnor Street Cemetery.

“Please could you remind your children about how to walk home safely. We will highlight walking home safely in assembly today.”

The Croft Primary School chose a more strict approach, telling parents that Wiltshire Police has advise parents that children should not be walking home alone next week.

We’ve approached Wiltshire Police for comment.
