Swindon town centre park sealed off by police as part of robbery investigation

Queens Park in Swindon has been sealed by police as a crime scene this morning.

The park’s gates are locked in all directions and police officers sit on a number of the entrances, in preparation for a search at some point today relating to a robbery, thought to have taken place overnight.

A number of police officers, armed with sticks, are searching though the undergrowth at around 2pm, with a Collie police dog – usually trained to sniff out weapons, drugs or money – involved.

The park is expected to be closed for the rest of today, according to PCSOs stationed outside.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented: “Officers are carrying out enquiries as part of an investigation into a robbery and the park has been sealed off as part of this investigation during this time to allow some searching to take place.”
