Pubs, restaurants and hair salons will close under second lockdown rules, PM says

Pubs, restaurants, gyms and hair salons will close from Thursday under newly announced lockdown rules, the Prime Minister has announced.

The hospitality industry and non-essential shops will shut from the 4 November, with furlough extended until December to support those out of work.

Mixing with people outside your household is to be banned from 0.01am on 5 November, with people told to stay at home and only venture out if it’s absolutely necessary.

Manufacturing and construction will be encouraged to keep going and takeaways will be allowed to remain open, as well as those offering a delivery service.

More measures announced by the Prime Minister this evening:

– Families will not be allowed to mix inside except for childcare reasons and other forms of support

– Schools, colleges, educational establishments and courts will remain open

– Work from home unless is it is not possible to do so, for example, in the construction or manufacturing industries

– Travel within the UK is to be discouraged with overnight stays away from home also banned, except for work purposes
