Two tents and numerous chairs have been erected in a field off Pitt Close, close to an abandoned canal.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed that the searches relate to the murder of Owen Dunn, who was killed with a machete in Hayden End on 4 December last year.

It’s not, at this stage, clear what detectives hope to discover or why they are focused on this area – which is approximately five miles from the scene of the crime.

At least a dozen police officers were seen at the location by witnesses passing before 9am.

A 14-year-old, who legally cannot be named due to his age, has been charged with the killing. Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard that the teen allegedly stabbed Owwn with a machete.

It’s claimed he took a knife out of his trousers and knifed the victim in the armpit area a single time – the blade piecing his heart and fatally wounding him.
