Police responding to sighting of stolen car in Swindon find it parked up

Police descended on a Swindon housing estate this afternoon in search of a stolen vehicle.

A number of roads policing units, supported by a dog unit, were sent to reports of a grey Fiat Abarth – which had been stolen sometime earlier – being driven around Penhill at 3pm.

The car was soon located by officers hidden away behind a hedge in Durrington Walk.

At around 4pm, the vehicle was recovered as a local teenager filmed the police and the press on his mobile phone whilst swearing at them. He was ignored and eventually moved on.

“We responded to a report of a stolen vehicle being driven around Penhill at around 3pm this afternoon”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police commented.

“We are currently recovering said vehicle from Durrington Walk and our enquiries are ongoing.”
