Hundreds of people have attended a car meet in Trowbridge this evening despite the government’s coronavirus regulations preventing large gatherings.

In photos obtained from Snapchat maps, dozens of people appear to be stood within close proximity of each other as they watch drivers of modified cars show off on White Horse Business Park.

Police officers were in attendance but only observed the event but it was clear that now enforcement action was taken against those attending or the organisers.

Gatherings of more than 30 people are illegal under England’s current coronavirus laws which are due to change tomorrow to restrict gatherings down to just six.

Earlier this evening officers attended St Stephen’s Place in Trowbridge and dispersed a large number of ‘car enthusiasts’ who had gathered there.
