BTP officers ‘storm’ into Swindon train station to deal with incident

Half a dozen police officers ‘stormed’ Swindon train station yesterday afternoon, following reports of an incident at near to the ticket barriers.

A witness reported that police ‘stormed into the train station and nearly knocked me over’. Adding that ‘they took a man with a backpack face down on the floor’.

British Transport Police were called to the station at 2.38pm, on 6 June, after staff stopped a man who was travelling without a ticket, when the situation became ‘heated’.

A police spokesperson told us that the man started to become agitated after being taken off the train, but was not detained or arrested by police officers.

Understandably, in the moment and following recent attacks, members of the public were very worried but were reassured by police officers and staff at the scene.
