Police officers arrest teenage boy after gunman spotted in Swindon town centre

A teenage boy has been arrested after police responded to reports of a gunman last night.

Police were called to Swindon town centre after a male was seen walking around with a firearm near to McDonald’s in Wharf Green at around 7pm on Thursday.

On arrival, officers ascertained that the firearm was an imitation (BB gun).

A 16-year-old boy, from Swindon, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm in public. He has since been released under investigation.
