Police officer makes a splash as suspect pushes them into pool during foot chase

A police officer made a splash when they were pushed into a paddling pool by a suspect during a foot chase through gardens in Swindon last night.

Officers from the Swindon Community Tasking Team located the wanted man hiding in a garden shed in the Toothill area yesterday evening, Wednesday 7 June.

When they attempted to arrest him, he pushed a police officer into a child’s paddling pool before making off on foot through the gardens of nearby properties.

The pursuit ended when the 31-year-old ‘serial offender’ locked himself inside a member of the public’s toilet. After he was flushed out he was charged with 12 offences including assault with intent to resist arrest, shoplifting and driving offences.

He currently remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
