Police need help identifying critically injured man struck by car on A419

Wiltshire Police is appealing for help from the public after a car struck a pedestrian on the A419 in Swindon.

999 responders attended the serious incident on the northbound carriageway, between Commonhead Roundabout and White Hart Roundabout, at approximately 5.45am today (18 September).

The male pedestrian, who police say they are unable to identify, suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital.

A force spokesperson said: “We are urgently appealing to identify the man who was struck by the car and are asking his next of kin to contact us.

“The injured person is described as a white man, thought to be in his 20s, approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall, with dark black, wavy hair. He was wearing dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms and a light-coloured top.

“We are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have dash cam footage from that area at that time this morning.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101 as a matter of urgency, quoting log 67 of today’s date (18/09).

“The northbound carriageway of the A419 remains closed from junction 15 of the M4 while our investigation continues and we will provide updates when this re-opens.

“We are supporting the driver of the vehicle involved.”
