Police helicopter helps find suspected drug dealer, 17, who ran from officers


A 17-year-old boy was arrested after attempting to flee from police officers in Swindon today.

The National Police Air Service helicopter was called in to help locate the teenager after the vehicle stop in Ferndale Road at around 12.30pm this afternoon.

The driver – and man in his 20s – was arrested at the scene, on suspicion of drug driving.

The teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “The helicopter was assisting officers with the arrest of two individuals at approximately 12.30pm today after a passenger decamped from a vehicle in the Ferndale Road area of Swindon.

“A 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and possession with intent to supply class B drugs and a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of Section 5A RTa and drug driving.

“Both have been taken to custody at Gablecross.”
