Police and fire crews called to north Swindon for Eastbury Way incident

Police officers and firefighters were called to a block of apartments in north Swindon tonight, following reports of a water leak.

Wiltshire Police were first alerted to the incident, which happened on Eastbury Way in Redhouse, via the non-emergency number 101.

They were alerted by a concerned resident who had water coming through their ceiling – their intention was for the police to contact the owner. However, the police requested the fire service’s attendance at the scene.

There turned out to be no welfare concerns and the leak was not deemed serious enough to warrant any immediate action – like breaking down a door.

The road was closed in both directions while emergency services attended – Thamesdown buses were diverted away from the area for around 45 minutes.
