Police drone unit searched for black panther in village near Swindon

The police drone unit was tasked to help locate a black panther in a Wiltshire village last night.

Drone pilot Special Inspector Guy Sanders raced to the scene in Chiseldon to support other officers as they hunted for the animal following a report from a member of the public.

Despite a vast search, the panther couldn’t be located – but they did find a large black domestic cat called Albert, who’s thought to have sparked the response.

The cat “couldn’t work out what all the fuss was”, Mr Sanders commented.

On Friday, just over the border in Gloucestershire, officers are investigating reports of a black panther sighting in the Wildmoorway Lane area of South Cerney.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101.
