Despite the lengthy blue light run, Bree was able to track the suspect down. He was found in possession of the keys of the damaged vehicle in an alleyway near the town centre.

Wiltshire Police has not confirmed what vehicle was involved, if anybody was injured or if the man who fled the scene was arrested in connection with the incident.

The major route was closed in both directions – between Pitman Avenue and Allen Road – until this afternoon, as work was carried out to fix the electricity pole.
