Police close Swindon town centre road after car and motorcycle involved in crash

A car versus motorcycle collision closed a Swindon town centre road this evening.

Police and ambulance were called to Dowling Street off Commercial Road at 4.30pm, where an injured biker was laying in the entrance to an alleyway behind South West Mortgages.

One local resident at the scene at brought a large quilt into the street to keep him warm while they waited for an ambulance to arrive at the incident.

The biker – a man thought to be in his early 20s – was taken to Great Western Hospital but isn’t believed to have suffered any serious injuries during the crash.

The driver of the car was unhurt, and the road was closed until around 5.30pm.
