A Swindon man has been charged with a firearms offence after pointing a gun out of his window directly opposite a secondary school on Monday afternoon.

21-year-old Ryan New is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning accused of using an air rifle to cause two people to believe it would be used against them.

It happened in Beech Avenue, with police officers asking Swindon Academy to lock down the school as armed officers dealt with the incident.
