Police arrest woman for assault after officers race to ‘disorder’ in Swindon

Police raced to reports of a disorder on a new housing development in Swindon yesterday.

Officers were called to the altercation on Homington Avenue, in Badbury Park, shortly after 4pm on Monday (8 August).

They arrested a woman in her 30s on suspicion of assault at the scene.

A young boy – thought to be about four years old – could be seen sitting in the front of a police car following the incident, but it’s not clear if he was involved or just witnessed events.

The female suspect later admitted her crime and was handed an adult caution, Wiltshire Police said.

A caution is not a criminal conviction but it does evidence an admission of guilt and appears on all Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for six years.

It also means that if the offender commits a similar crime in their lifetime, they will be put before a court for prosecution.
