Further searches were conducted at addresses in Pewsham, Chippenham, and a further large quantity of cannabis was located along with thousands of pounds in cash.

In total, approximately £8,000 of cannabis was seized along with two cash hauls of £4,500 and £4,550.

A man, in his 30s, from Chippenham was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. He has been taken to Melksham custody for questioning.

Sgt Richard Marshall said: “This was a great result by all officers involved. I understand there is a common misconception of cannabis amongst the public with some people of the opinion that it is a harmless drug and not worth time investigating.

“This is not the case – cannabis is an illegal drug and those that deal it can cause great harm within our communities. Drug dealing is often associated with anti-social behaviour, violence and other criminality so it is really important that we continue to tackle this type of activity within our community.

“I hope people are reassured by this arrest – I am pleased that we have been able to seize a large amount of cannabis and prevent it from reaching vulnerable drug users.”
