Wiltshire Police has issued an appeal for witnesses after a ram raid in Lyneham.

Just before 1am today, Tuesday 31 October, police received a report of a break-in at Costcutter at the Texaco garage on The Green.

A vehicle, believed to be a Ford Ranger, was used to drive at the shop window – an attempt was then made to access the ATM machine. This was unsuccessful and the offenders left empty handed.

PC Nick Kelly said: “We have been carrying out enquiries following the report early this morning and it would appear that at least three vehicles were seen to drive past the location whilst the incident was taking place – we’d like to speak to these members of the public immediately.

“We believe the offenders were on site for approximately five minutes. They left in the direction of the roundabout which leads to either Calne or Bradenstoke.

“Although they got away empty handed, a lot of damage was caused to stock and display stands.

“Were you driving through Lyneham just before 1am this morning? Did you witness anything suspicious, or do you have dash-cam footage which could help with our enquiries? Please call 101 immediately.”
