Person killed by train on railway tracks near Swindon retail park

A person has been killed by a train on railway tracks near a Swindon retail park.

Emergency services, including Great Western Air Ambulance, were called to the line on Saturday afternoon (30 December).

Police, firefighters and ambulance resources were tasked to the incident near in Telford Way, behind Mannington Retail Park, shortly before 2pm.

The train involved was the Great Western Railway service to Carmarthen from London Paddington, which reportedly had hundreds of passengers on board.

The British Transport Police have confirmed that the casualty was pronounce dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner”, a spokesperson for the force said.
