Pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by van on A419 north of Swindon

A pedestrian’s been seriously injured after being struck by a van on the A419.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the northbound carriageway, near the junction for Cricklade, at around 4pm this afternoon.

Critical care medics from Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which landed in Latton, were in attendance alongside local ambulance crews and police.

The casualty – man whose age is currently unknown – has been taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by ambulance with potentially life-changing injuries.

“Wiltshire Police have informed us that the road is expected to remain closed for some time. Diversions are in place”, Highways England said.
