Pedestrian, 30s, dies after being hit by motorbike on Drakes Way in Swindon

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a motorbike on Drakes Way in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to the serious road traffic collision at the junction with Garrard Way at around 8.30pm last night (31 January).

A motorcyclist is believed to have travelled from Greenbridge Roundabout onto Drakes Way, where he was in collision with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a local man in his 30s, was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm.

Drakes Way remains closed in both directions and is likely to remain closed for the duration of the morning rush hour while collision investigators conduct enquiries.

The road is closed between Greenbridge Roundabout and the roundabout with Queens Drive. This includes access from Marlowe Avenue, Ocotal Way and Penny Lane.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We’d like to hear from any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken to police, as well as anyone who may have CCTV or dash cam footage in the area of Greenbridge and Drakes Way which may be relevant to our enquiries.

“Call 101 and quote log number 313 of January 31.”
