Paraglider winched from steep hillside after crashing in Westbury

The coastguard has winched a paraglider from a steep hillside after a crash in Westbury.

Emergency services, including Wiltshire Air Ambulance, were called to the scene at the White Horse at around 7.30pm this evening following reports of an aircraft crash.

PARAMEDICS AND FIREFIGHTERS AT THE SCENE

Two fire service incident support vehicles, two fire engines, an ambulance, a paramedics officer, an air ambulance and a fire commander all attended the scene.

A coastguard helicopter arrived just before 9pm, winching a male casualty from the hillside.

The paraglider isn’t believed to have suffered any serious injuries. After being winched to safety, he was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
