Paedophile awaiting sentence arrested at home after calling girl ‘stunning’

A paedophile who is awaiting sentence for vile crimes has been arrested for breaking his bail conditions.

69-year-old Michael Wadley previously pleaded guilty to three sexual offences when he appeared at Salisbury Crown Court on 14 December last year.

He admitted charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and making four indecent images of children – three of which were in the most serious category.

Last night (Tuesday 21 February), police attended his home in Bancroft, Bradford on Avon, and arrested him on suspicion of breaking his bail conditions by communicating with a person under the age of 18.

He was kept in custody overnight and put before Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Wednesday).

It was the Crown’s case that the defendant has initiated contact with a girl on Facebook, who told him she was 14 years old. He continued to engage with her and told her she looked “stunning”.

He went on to ask her if she had a boyfriend and if she had any other photographs. The Crown also had concerns over the fact many of his new ‘friends’ on the social platform appeared to be children.

He admitted the bail breach and the bench – concerned about further offending if he was bailed again – remanded him into custody ahead of his sentencing hearing at Salisbury Crown Court in March.
