Keith Ballinger, prosecuting, alleged the defendant placed a blanket over the child during a ‘movie night’ and touched them over their clothing.

Corry, of Devizes Road, Old Town, is accused of continuing the assault despite his alleged victim – who the prosecutor described as vulnerable – asking him to stop.

Mark Glendenning, defending, said his client did not intentionally assault the alleged victim, claiming any contact was accidental due to his drunken state at the time.

The case was deemed too serious to be dealt with by magistrates. It was sent to Swindon Crown Court.

Corry was released on unconditional bail until the plea and trial preparation hearing on 20 May.

The alleged victim in this case has the lifelong right to anonymity. It is an imprisonable criminal offence to share any piece of information that could lead to the identification of the alleged victim.
