OH DEER: Animal trapped in railings near Westbury rescued by RSPCA inspector

An off-duty RSPCA inspector has rescued a deer from railings near Westbury.

The deer was hanging, trapped by its hips, when it was discovered in Dilton Marsh at around 8pm last Friday evening. It was later released into nearby fields.

Inspector Miranda Albinson said: “The deer was hanging, trapped by the hips in between two railings. I used a car jack from my van to separate the railings and free the deer – the poor thing was screaming she was so terrified.

“I covered her with a blanket and was able to get her to a nearby wildlife centre and fortunately, as she only had superficial scrapes, we were able to free her again in fields opposite the location that same day.”
