Neighbour rescues man in serious Royal Wootton Bassett house fire

A man is in a serious condition following a house fire in Royal Wootton Bassett.

The occupant, in his 50s, was rescued from the house in Noremarsh Road by a brave neighbour at around 2am this morning, Wednesday 26 April.

He was taken initially to the Great Western Hospital by ambulance but has since been transferred to a trauma hospital in Bristol, Southmead where he is in a serious condition.

Sergeant Louis McCoy said: “At this stage, the cause of the fire is under investigation and fire investigators have attended the scene, followed by our scenes of crime officers and investigations are underway.

“Noremarsh Road is a busy road and as a result of the fire, a road closure was put in place early this morning. This has since been lifted however, a cordon remains in place at the scene this morning.”
