Motorists will be banned from turning right into a Royal Wootton Bassett pub.
The news comes after a string of crashes involving vehicles turning across oncoming traffic to enter the Sally Pussey’s Inn car park, off A3102 Swindon Road.
Local councillor Steve Bucknell announced the new rule on Facebook.
He said motorists travelling from the direction of Junction 16 will have to continue along and turn around at the roundabout to access the popular pub, rather than turn across the road.
“New signage has been ordered and should be installed by the end of March to prevent drivers stopping to turn right into Sally Pussey’s Inn”, he wrote.
“Lydiard Tregoze Parish Council asked for Wiltshire Council’s Community Area Transport Group (CATG) for action to resolve this accident blackspot, and I have been working with fellow councillors and officers on CATG to get this sorted.
“Under the new signage, drivers approaching from the Swindon direction will not be allowed to turn right into Sally Pussey’s, but instead will have to go around the roundabout and then make a left turn in.
“Later in the year, when the weather is dryer (sic), there will also be some work on the white lining at the junction to further improve highway safety.
