A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision outside a quarry in the Cotswold Water Park.

Gloucestershire Constabulary say the motorcycle hit a “heavy piece of plant machinery” at the junction with Cerney Wick Quarry at 4.20pm.

The 51-year-old rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the plant machinery is believed to have been uninjured. The road remained closed for a number of hours but has now reopened.

A police spokesperson said: “Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“Officers would like to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to them and who may have witnessed the collision or the motorcycle involved prior to the collision.

“They would also like to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision or any footage that they may feel might be relevant.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident 302 of 2 September.
