The balaclava-clad suspect appeared to ride past officers, but one quick-thinking PC grabbed his Taser – but appeared to strike the male with it, rather than shoot him.

In doing so, the Taser was accidentally discharged. Though nobody was injured as a result.

It came after a man, aged in his 30s, was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds following a disorder in the park – just metres from staff setting up a Swindon and Wiltshire Pride event.

Two other men were also swiftly arrested. All three are believed to remain in custody this morning – including an 18-year-old male who was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Speaking yesterday, Superintendent Phil Staynings said: “People may notice an increased police presence in the area this afternoon while officers continue with their enquiries – please do not be alarmed by this.

”If you have any concerns, please do approach an officer.”

Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101 and quote log number 200 of 12 August.
