Missing Wiltshire soldier’s body found on coast near Beachy Head

A body, believed to be that of a missing soldier, has been found on the East Sussex coast.

21-year-old Daniel Allen, who was based at Lyneham, went missing on the 4 November.

His Subaru Impreza was found abandoned near Beachy Head following his disappearance. A young man’s body was found earlier this week and is believed to be Daniel’s.

His family have been told of the discovery, but formal identification hasn’t yet taken place.

In a statement, Daniel’s mother said: “”We are truly humbled by the outpouring of concern, prayer and affection for our Son Dan.

“We are trying to get through each day at a time and it seems like time has stood still for us.

“We have received news that a body of a young man was found along the coast in East Sussex believed to be that of Dan, however until further tests have been completed we cannot 100% confirm that it is Daniel. This could take up to 2 weeks to complete, yes incredulous isn’t it?

“As Dan’s mum I would ask that you all come together in prayer in this incredibly dark time for us. I’m sorry if you are close friends of ours and aren’t expecting this terrible news but it’s the quickest and fairest way to convey our thoughts to you and we really do appreciate all of the offers of support we have received. Much love to you all and God bless you.”
