A man who went missing yesterday afternoon was found dead a short time later.
The police helicopter was above Netheravon from around 5pm as they searched for the missing 48-year-old local resident in Choulston Woods, near the River Avon.
During the police search, he was found deceased by officers.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Yesterday afternoon (27/07) we received a report of a 48-year-old man who had gone missing in the Netheravon area.
“Enquiries were carried out and, sadly, at 5.45pm a body was found by officers searching woodland on the edge of the village.
“Although formal identification has not yet taken place, it is believed to be the man reported missing, and his next of kin have been informed. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will now be prepared for HM Coroner.”
