Screens were erected as emergency services worked under a tree at Biss Meadows

A member of the public called 999 after finding a man hanging from a tree this morning.

Emergency services – including a fire crew – raced to the scene in Trowbridge at just after 10.30am.

A large area of Biss Meadows Country Park was cordoned off as a crime scene and blue screens were held up as paramedics worked after the casualty was brought down from the tree by firefighters using a ladder and tools.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Wiltshire Police have been unable to confirm that man’s identity and are appealing for anyone with information which could help their investigation to come forward.

A force spokesperson said: “In normal circumstances we would wait for next of kin to be informed before confirming this information to the media and the public. However, at this stage we have been unable to identify the man.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to identify him and inform his next of kin as quickly as possible.

“If anyone has any information please call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log 99 of today (17/07).”
