Melksham road cordoned off by police after car destroyed in blaze

A Melksham road cordoned off as a crime scene by police following a car fire.

Firefighters from Trowbridge were called to the scene in Queensway, near Devonshire Place, at around 3.45pm this afternoon where a car was found well alight.

Responding to a call from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, police officers arrived at the incident at shortly after 4.50pm and closed Queensway between the A3102 and Blackmore Road.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

It’s not yet clear whether police believe the fire was started under suspicious circumstances.
