Melksham man accused of sex attack on teen stranger, 15, in the street

A Melksham man is accused of a sex attack on a teenage stranger in the street.

Scott Davis, 38, pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual assault at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).

Prosecutor Ryan Seneviratne alleged that the defendant approached the 15-year-old girl – a complete stranger – as she walked home from a friend’s house in Melksham on the morning of 1 January last year.

It’s said he proceeded to sexually assault the alleged victim in an incident that lasted around ten minutes, as she reportedly told him to stop and attempted to force him off her.

Mr Seneviratne alleged that Davis, of Portman Road, used “some force” to kiss the youngster, grab her arm and touch her under her jogging bottoms but over her underwear.

The former Melksham Rugby Club player elected a trial by jury.

The case was adjourned for a plea and trial preparation hearing at Salisbury Crown Court in March. The defendant was released on bail.

The alleged victim in this case has the life-long legal right to anonymity. It is an imprisonable criminal offence to share any piece of information that could lead to their identification.
