Man stabbed in Chippenham after disorder outside pub as suspect arrested

A man’s been arrested following a stabbing outside a pub in Chippenham, police say.

Emergency services were called to the serious incident near The Brunel on New Road at around 10.30pm on Tuesday evening (28 March).

A man, aged in his 30s, sustained a knife wound and was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment. His injury isn’t believed to be life-changing.

The suspect involved, a man aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody for questioning at this time.

A crime scene was in place for most of today (Wednesday), but has since been removed.

“While we understand the community concern this may cause, this incident occurred in isolation and there is no threat to the wider public”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said.
