Man seriously injured during ‘incident’ in pitch-black lane near Corsham

A man was seriously injured during an ‘incident’ in a pitch-black country lane.

Emergency services were called to Oakford Lane in Ashwicke, seven miles north-west of Corsham, at around 10pm on Sunday (4 June).

Both Avon and Somerset Police, Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Air Ambulance were tasked to the scene alongside local ambulance crews.

A man sustained a serious head wound after reportedly attacking another vehicle.

A witness claims the man had tried to punch through a car and pulled a roof bar off, before falling to the ground when the driver attempted to flee his attack.

It’s alleged the man was intoxicated and had exited his vehicle before causing damage and suffering injuries.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that the casualty was “taken to hospital with a serious head injury” following the incident.

Adding: “Anyone with information or footage which could help our inquiry is asked to phone 101 and give the call handler the reference 5223131672.”
