Man suffers serious head injury during attack at house in Swindon

A man has suffered a serious head injury during an attack at a house in Swindon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Winton Road, off the B4006 Highworth Road, at around 11.30pm last night (Thursday 16 February).

At least six police vehicles were in attendance alongside two ambulance crews, with the 999 vehicles blocking the road as they responded to the ongoing incident.

A man, aged in his 60s, was found in a serious condition, having sustained a head injury during an assault. He was rushed to hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Wiltshire Police say his injury isn’t thought to be life-threatening.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody for questioning at this time.

The force confirmed that both the suspect and victim are known to each other and there is “no wider risk to the public”.

Forensics were at the scene until around 4.30pm today (Friday) as they gathered evidence and photographed the crime scene. A community support officer guarded the address.
