Man, 21, suffers life-changing injuries in attack as police cordon off Swindon park

A large section of a Swindon park has been cordoned off after a serious assault.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed in Lawn Woods at around 5.30pm today (28 June) following reports of a man being seriously hurt in an attack.

Police taped off a large area at the top of the park – nearest to the entrance on The Planks and Old Mill Lane – which appears to contain a bicycle.

Officers could be seen walking around the park wearing gloves, whilst searching hedgerows and grass.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and suffered what are being described as “life-changing injuries”.

In a statement, the force said: “Officers have currently cordoned off an area in The Planks, Old Town, following a serious assault earlier this evening (28/6).

“We were called shortly after 5pm following reports that a 21-year-old man had been assaulted.

“He has been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and his injuries are thought to be life-changing but not life-threatening.

“No arrests have been made in connection with this incident at this time but our enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with information should call us on 101 and quote log number 225 of today.”
