Man left with serious injuries after incident outside Devizes pub

A man has been left seriously injured after an altercation outside a pub.

Police officers were called to the incident outside the Silk Mercer in St John’s Street, Devizes, at around 2.15am on Sunday 11 June.

During a disorder, a 27-year-old man sustained serious injuries to his eye and head. He was taken to hospital in Swindon for medical treatment where he remains.

A 20-year-old man from Frome was arrested on suspicion of GBH without intent. He has been released under investigation.

Detective Constable Nick Ryan, from South CID, said: “A number of people were in the area at the time of this incident and we have spoken to several witnesses, however we would be keen to speak to anyone else who may have witnessed the incident.
