Man, 40s, killed as car hits tree in Swindon – woman driver arrested

A man was killed in a crash in Swindon – with police arresting a woman driver.

Emergency services, including Hamshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, attended a road traffic collision on Kingsdown Road at around 9.45pm last night (Saturday 17 June).

A car left the carriageway and hit a tree – leaving a passenger in the vehicle with significant injuries.

Despite the best efforts of medics, the casualty – a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

The driver of the car, a woman also aged in her 40s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving.

She remains in police custody this afternoon, where she is being questioned by officers.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen a white Audi A3 in the area around the time of the incident.
