A dark-coloured Suzuki Grand Vitara and a white BMW X3 were involved in the head-on impact near Belmont Veterinary Clinic on Salisbury Road.

The driver of the Suzuki – a local man aged in his 40s – sustained significant injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported.

The two occupants of the BMW – a man and a woman – did not sustain any injuries.

The road remains closed in both directions between Swan Road in Pewsey and The Woodbridge Inn in North Newnton as forensic collision investigation and vehicle recovery work are carried out.

It’s not yet clear when the route will reopen – but it could be closed into the late morning.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone with information or dashcam footage, should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01225 694597 (quoting log 267 of 12 October). Alternatively, email at [email protected].
