Man jailed for attacks on Marlborough woman ‘as kids watched on’

A man has been jailed for attacking a Marlborough woman ‘as her kids watched on’.

29-year-old Samuel Norris pleaded guilty to a number of offences – including three counts of assault by beating and one count of non-fatal intentional strangulation.

The “prolonged and frightening” violence relates to a number of dates in June 2023.

Norris, of Garrick Road, Bath, was handed a 20-month custodial sentence at Swindon Crown Court on 20 December.

Local Crime Investigator Ms O’Harney, of Wiltshire Police, said: “This was a prolonged and frightening assault taking place in front of small children.

“Violence Against Women and Girls is a top priority for Wiltshire Police and we hope this 20-month custodial sentence sends a strong message to perpetrators.

“I hope that the victim in this case feels a sense of justice for what they went through. I also hope that this encourages more victims to come forward and report domestic abuse.”
