Man hospitalised after being ‘glassed over the head’ in village near Westbury

A man was hit over the head with a glass bottle in a village near Westbury last night.

Police officers were called to the Pear Tree Orchard area of Bratton at around 10.15pm following a report of a man being ‘glassed’ in a violent assault.

On arrival, officers found a 37-year-old man with a head injury. As first aid was given to the man, other officers searched for the weapon involving the in attack – understood to be a glass bottle.

Paramedics attended the scene and the victim was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for treatment. His injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

No arrests have been made.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would ask anyone with information to contact us on 101 and quote log number 362 of 05/09”, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson commented.
