Man, 50s, hit with bottle, punched and kicked by strangers in Monkton Park attack

Monkton Park, Chippenham

A man was hit with a bottle, punched and kicked during an attack in Chippenham.

The victim, in his 50s, was approached by two males who appeared intoxicated, along the footpath in Monkton Park that runs alongside the Emery Gate car park at around 4pm on 26 April.

He was hit round the head with a bottle and punched and kicked several times – sustaining a laceration to his head that required treatment at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

The suspects were not known to the victim.

The first suspect is described as white, between 5 ft 11 and 6 ft tall, with brown hair. The victim described him as having a multi-coloured eye which he said was distinctive. He was wearing a black top, black trousers and trainers.

The second man is described as white, between 5 ft 11 and 6 ft tall, wearing black trousers, trainers, dark hair and no distinctive features.

Both suspects were drinking from large beer bottles at the time of the incident.

Wiltshire Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the assault.
