Specially-trained negotiators allowed the man into the inner cordon and liaised with him about the best way to engage with the suspect.

However, a short time later, he was asked to leave the cordon – but instead, he allegedly became aggressive towards officers and attempted to obstruct their operation.

It took five officers to restrain the 29-year-old man on the ground before he could be arrested on suspision of obstructing police.

After a struggle on the ground and the application of leg restraints, the man was carried into the back of a police van and taken to Melksham custody.

Following a search of his person, he was further arrested on suspicion of being in the possession of class A drugs.
