Man ‘with firearm’ arrested after police called to incident in Swindon town centre

A man’s been arrested after police were called to in Swindon town centre.

Officers were responding to an incident on Fleet Street at around 12.20am this morning (28 May).

One local resident reported a “heavy police presence” – including several police cars and a van – outside Remix Bar, formerly known as Cheekies, as officers attended the scene.

Wiltshire Police has confirmed a man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

The force said the weapon is believed to be an “air gun” and the suspect remains in custody.

Nobody’s believed to have been injured during the incident.
