Man charged with drink driving after car crashes through garden in Swindon

A man’s been charged with drink driving following a crash in Swindon on Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to the scene in Freshbrook at around 9pm after a red Vauxhall Astra reportedly crashed up an embankment, through a garden and into a conservatory.

Police officers arrested a 42-year-old local man at the scene in Langdale Drive. He was taken to Great Western Hospital as a precautionary measure before being transferred to custody.

Pawel Gajlewicz, 42, of Lambert Close, Freshbrook, was charged with driving while over the legal alcohol limit. He has since been bailed to attend Swindon Magistrates Court on January 26, 2021.
