Man charged with serious assault in Devizes – as alleged victim fights for life in hospital

A man has been charged with seriously assaulting another man in Devizes.

The alleged victim was found with significant injuries off New Park Street, behind The Palace Cinema, late on Saturday night (2 July).

Wayne Sheppard, 40s, was rushed to hospital – where he remains in a critical condition, according to Wiltshire Police.

Today (5 July), 39-year-old Darren John Fell, of Hewitt Court, New Park Street, has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

GBH with intent is one of only several offences which could see someone convicted of the crime jailed for life.

Fell has been remanded in custody and was due to appear before Salisbury Magistrates Court today.
